Shipsters' Rapture Shiraz
Wine
d'Arenberg Shipsters' Rapture Shiraz is grown in one of McLaren Vale's finest Shiraz blocks. It is named in honour of Henry Shipster who owned the vineyard before the Osborns, planting it in the 1890s.
Small batches of grapes are gently crushed and transferred to open fermenters. Each batch remains separate until final blending. Foot treading is started two thirds of the way through fermentation.
The wine is basket pressed to new and seasoned French and American oak to complete fermentation. It ages on lees for 20 months. There is no racking until final blending, and no fining or filtration.
Deep ruby, d'Arenberg Shipsters' Rapture Shiraz weaves dark fruit flavours and a framework of chiselled tannins. A balance of power and elegance. Cellaring potential is 25 years.
